Oswego Yacht Club Will Host 2017 Hospice Championship
The National Hospice Regatta Alliance is delighted to announce that the Oswego (NY) Yacht Club has agreed to host the 2017 Hospice Regattas Championship. The Championship will be held August 17-20 on Lake Ontario in J/24s, thanks to the efforts of OYC leadership and the J/24 District 7 Governor. OYC also hosts the Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta in June each year to benefit local hospice services.
Thirteen J/24 owners in District 7 have generously agreed to allow use of their boats for the Hospice Championship, which is scheduled for the week following the J/24 District 7 Pennant Series regatta at Oswego. Additional boats may become available for the Championship fleet.
“We are very grateful to the J/24 District 7 fleet for loaning boats to the Championship,” said OYC commodore Mike Anderson. “OYC is excited to host the Hospice Championship and continue the tradition of this great event,” he added.
The agreement with Oswego YC follows extensive discussions with other potential venues, which, for various reasons, are not able to host a Hospice Championship in 2017.
Details of the Championship, including travel and lodging options, are expected to be complete by the end of January. Invitations should be extended in February.
REMINDER: The Alliance cannot send invitations to representative(s) from local hospice regattas unless we receive full contact information from the regattas. Each regatta in good standing is entitled to one representative from its sailing competition and one Hospice Impact skipper.
