Oswego Yacht Club to Host 2018

Hospice Regattas Championship

National Hospice Regatta Alliance 2018The Alliance is pleased to announce that Oswego (NY) Yacht Club will host the Hospice Regattas Championship again in 2018.

Buoyed by competitors’ overwhelmingly positive reactions to the 2017 event, OYC and the Alliance will hold the Championship on August 16-19, with cooperation from the leadership and members of J/24 District 7.

Racing will take place Friday-Sunday on Lake Ontario, using a fleet of race-ready J/24s borrowed from skippers who regularly compete in District 7 regattas.

Conditions varied all three days of the 2017 Championship, but the raceNHRA J/24s committee never stumbled.

This led more than one competitor to call it one of the best regattas they had ever participated in, anywhere.

In his 50 years of racing, said SC-Hartwell Lake representative Randy Lenz, this was the “best and most fun regatta ever.”

Cedric Lewis, whose team represented MD-Annapolis, agreed. “I want to thank the Oswego Yacht Club for putting on a wonderful regatta,” he said.

Noting that he has been to many major regattas, Lewis added, “I think this is the best I’ve ever been to.”

“The Alliance is delighted to partner with OYC, and we are committed to staging another terrific event in 2018,” said Alliance vice president Tom Tomlinson.

“We look forward to enjoying a weekend of great racing and great parties for a great cause in Oswego next August,” he added.

Once all arrangements are settled, OYC will send invitations to skippers designated around March 1.

Sailors: Please make sure your local regatta has provided the name(s) of the skippers who will represent it in 2018. Especially if you’re the one due to compete.
