In the last two years, Gunnar and Brook Richardson have formed
a powerful father/son team pushing a 1979 racer/cruiser to its limits,
on Lake Ontario. Gunnar Richardson has been the skipper of Arrow,
a Petersen 34 owned by his father.
Arrow has been the Rochester Yacht Club
(RYC) Division 2 champion for the past two years due to a consistent
and highly experienced crew base. Gunnar began racing in the Junior
Yacht Club at RYC when he was twelve years in the 420, laser, and
big boat fleet on Arrow. Gunnar attended SUNY Maritime where he
was on the sailing team and graduated from Rochester Institute of
Technology. He worked for Haarstick Sailmakers while he attended
RIT and raced many different one-design classes ranging from J24s,
Ensigns, Lasers, Solings, and Lightings.
Some crewmembers have raced on Arrow for
many years and include Bob Dyminski on foredeck, Joe Davis on main
& tactics, and Mike Dwyer on trim.
